WebI recently bought a 3010 with a 400w PSU and was wondering if I can overclock the i5 3470 on the original mobo. I bought the Mini-tower version if that matters. No, Intel CPU’s without a K on the end of the number can’t be overclocked. And if you did replace it with a K model, the motherboard on a Dell wouldn’t support overclocking either. WebThe power supply and motherboard are proprietary in the newer Optiplex models (only about 8-10 pins on the ATX12v connector (24-pin)). You'll need another motherboard as well. The rest of the system (sans case, PSU, heatsink and motherboard) can be transferred over to another machine.
